Goodbye weddings of 2016…hello 2017!

For fourteen years, Azul Photography has been documenting weddings in the Raleigh/Durham area and we still love it! Our team of wedding photographers has churned out many stunning images over the years and 2016 was equally amazing. Who knew that our little company would gain the trust of venues, cake decorators, florists and our fellow photographers. Thank you all for believing in our philosophy, ethics, style and photography. We wanted to share with you all some of our favorite images from 2016.

Enjoy and we look forward to the greatness of 2017!

Stephanie & Cody | Carolina Inn Wedding

When you are a wedding photographer you meet a lot of wonderful couples. I have to say, Stephanie & Cody’s Carolina Inn wedding was a blast and one that I will never forget. It was so great that I (Christobal) was smiling all the way back to Raleigh after the wedding.

What made the wedding so wonderful? Everything! The bridal party, the weather, the location, the vendors, the family and the venue. I arrived at The Carolina Inn to hang out with the ladies and it was a party in there. Lots of laughing and singing with a very happy bride constantly smiling.

The beautiful ceremony site was filled with close friends and family. Arioso Strings played to the crowd, as Cody and his best man walked to the officiant. That same officiant is also a person whose wedding I documented 8 years ago. Stephanie graciously walked down the aisle with her father to meet her future husband. Twenty minutes later, they walked up the aisle as husband and wife.

We later headed to the Hill Ballroom to get the party started. I must say that Kristin with Viva L’Event kept everyone and everything on schedule. There are a lot of moving parts to a wedding  and she did a fantastic job.

The ballroom was filled with beautiful flowers from Fresh Affairs. The cake looked amazing because it was created by Cinda’s Cakes (it tasted great too) and the Empty Pocket Band was ready to go.

Stephanie and Cody entered the ballroom with a roar and arms raised up in victory. They danced to “You Are The Best Thing,” with the dance floor surrounded with guests. Dinner followed and next were toasts from the best man and maids of honor.

The dance floor was packed the whole night and the exit was an epic snowstorm of confetti everywhere! It was a great day, great night and great wedding. Congrats Stephanie & Cody!

Jessica & Brian | Engagement Portraits

We first met Jessica at a wedding show in Raleigh when she was looking for a photographer. She chatted with us, walked around and chatted with us again. At the end of the show, she came back to chat more with her fiancee Brian and we are glad they did.

Their wedding is just around the corner at Brier Creek Country Club, but we had to shoot some engagement portraits first. They were goofy, fun and loving the whole time. We spent a little time in downtown Raleigh and then found a nice spot at Pullen Park to end our session. We can’t wait for their wedding and here are some fun photos we had to share!

Jessica & Kevin | Raleigh Stockroom Wedding

Want an epic Raleigh wedding in February? Just ask Jessica and Kevin how it’s done and you will have a great formula for one. I (Christobal) am so thankful that they selected Azul to be their photographers. It was a blast from beginning to end.

The Glass Box was where Jessica got ready as her guests headed to the ceremony in The Stockroom. This is where we created the beautiful B&W shot of her adjusting her veil just prior to heading downstairs. The ceremony was short and absolutely perfect. Guests then headed next door to Mahler Art Gallery for cocktail hour while the room was being prepared for the reception. Sally Oakley, their wedding planner, kept everyone happy and the day moved smoothly because of her expertise.

The guests later arrived to the space filled with beautiful floral centerpieces from The English Garden. They walked past perfect pies from Slice Pie Company, along with the wedding cake and other delicious desserts. The bar was packed with a funny quote that read “Alcohol, because no great stories ever start with someone eating salad.”  True.

After the first dance, it was party time! Joe Bunn kept the dance floor packed and rockin. Congrats to Jessica and Kevin, you guys are amazing and who knew we were neighbors!

Aggie’s Bridal Portraits

We often get asked the question “do you shoot bridal portraits?” Of course we do! We will even travel from Raleigh to Charlotte for them. We love to shoot and create dynamic portraits.

Here is an example from Aggie’s portraits, which are amazing and we wanted to share theme with you! Duke Mansion was the location she selected and boy were we thrilled when we clicked the link. There were so many beautiful nooks to select from and we tried to hit them all. Enjoy the images and let us know what you think.
